I need help!

What is your opinion of the idea that hope is an important quality?

I need to write a critical and I am doing Jeannette from the memoir the Glass Castle

I need to write initially, then, and finally.

So for initially I want to talk about how Rex Walls tells Jeannette that they are going to have a home of their own: The Glass Castle. In e beginning Jeannette is innocent and actually believed her dad. She had the hope that their lives will get better when the glass castle is built.

Then when she is leaving for new York, she has the hope that she herself will make her life better. She will be independent because her parents failed in their promises. So she has the hope she will be successful herself.

I'm not sure what to do for finally. Helppp

How are you defining "hope"? Is it something a person wants to have, but expects it to fall in his/her lap? Or what?

Is there a different word or concept that can be used when a person has certain "hopes," and actually makes and carries out specific plans so those "hopes" become reality?

I think your first paragraph is about hope -- she wanted a nicer life but didn't have to do anything to bring it about. Your second paragraph, however, is about ... what?

You need to understand what you've written so far before you work on what's next.

For the "finally" part of your critical essay on the importance of hope, you can focus on how Jeannette's journey in the memoir The Glass Castle demonstrates the transformative power of hope in her life.

Finally, after facing numerous challenges and setbacks, Jeannette realizes the true significance of hope in shaping her future. Despite experiencing disappointment and betrayal from her parents and enduring many hardships, hope serves as a driving force that empowers her to overcome obstacles and build a better life for herself.

Jeannette's final realization is that hope is not just about having a positive outlook, but also about taking action and actively pursuing one's dreams. When she leaves for New York, Jeannette is determined to break free from the cycle of poverty and instability that her family has been trapped in. With hope as her catalyst, she finds the inner strength to forge her own path and create a new reality for herself.

In the concluding part of your essay, you can emphasize the significance of hope as a vital quality that enables individuals to navigate through adversity and manifest their aspirations. Jeannette's story serves as a testament to the transformative power of hope, inspiring readers to embrace it in their own lives and strive for a better future.

Remember to support your arguments with specific examples and quotes from the memoir to provide a more comprehensive analysis.
