I can't think of ideas for this essay topic:

What role does white resistance to integration play in the success of the civil rights movement by 1965?

Violent white resistance -- such as

-- the governor standing at a school door preventing a black student from entering

-- police with fire hoses and dogs breaking up a peaceful demonstration

-- murder of Emmett Till and others --

were all played on TV news around the country. This resistance brought home to Civil Rights sympathizers the ugly horrors of segregation.
