  1. half the width drawing:
    rafter 10 ft wide,
    tie is 3 ft up
    so for half the tie
    (10-3)/x = 10/10 = 1
    x = 7
    2x = length of tie = 14
    I wonder why the tie is only 3 feet above the rafters though.
