Due Date: Nov 28, 2018 23:59:59 Max Points: 130

Details:
In earlier topics, you explored the tenet of conscious leadership and the influence of self-awareness on your leadership style. You established that a clear understanding of your abilities, motivation, and goals provides a firm foundation for leading others. Leadership studies demonstrate that the most effective leaders know how to draw upon self-leadership skills to in turn motivate and lead others to expand their strengths to ultimately better serve the goals of an organization. For this assignment, you will continue to study conscious leadership and look at a leadership example from contemporary media and evaluate how well the particular leader exemplifies the qualities of effective and ethical conscious leadership. Then, you will compose your own leadership philosophy statement to articulate the qualities that will make you an effective conscious leader of people and organizations.

Part 1:

For Part 1, select a relevant and topical leadership issue from current news media that revolves around ethics and ethical decision making. Topics must be approved by your instructor. Once approved, research the situation and gather data in order to evaluate the dynamics of the situation. Write an evaluation (500-750 words) of the situation that addresses the following:

The power bases used by the leader.
The influence tactics used by the leader.
The leadership style of the leader.
The outcome (or potential outcome) of the situation.
Conclude by justifying whether or not you think this leader supports the values of conscious capitalism. Is the leader's leadership style effective? Do you believe the leader acted ethically in the situation? Be sure to consider each tenet of conscious capitalism in your leader evaluation.

Next, imagine yourself as a practitioner of servant leadership. You have been appointed into the leadership role in this same circumstance. Explain how the situation would be different. Address the four criteria listed above in your discussion and incorporate the principles of conscious capitalism by explaining how your personal values and style are influenced by each tenet.

Part 2:

For Part 2, develop a leadership philosophy statement as an appendix to your evaluation in Part 1. Begin by reviewing your self-assessment results from Topic 2 and reflecting on what you have learned about effective leadership and conscious capitalism in the course. Keep in mind that one's leadership philosophy is a unique statement that encapsulates your own view of leadership, so the final product may vary, but your statement should incorporate the following:

Personal values and beliefs that influence your leadership style.
Past experiences or people that have influenced the development of those values.
Expectations of self and others.
Leadership style and influence tactics.
Your goal is to create a distinctive statement (250-500 words) that incorporates the elements outlined above. The end product should clearly articulate how you view yourself as a leader and how others would view you as a leader. It should also make clear how you can contribute to the success of other people and an organization as a whole.

This is your first step. Have you done it?

"For Part 1, select a relevant and topical leadership issue from current news media that revolves around ethics and ethical decision making. Topics must be approved by your instructor. Once approved, research the situation and gather data in order to evaluate the dynamics of the situation. "

Which leadership issue have you chosen? Has your instructor approved it?

No, I have not chosen a topic yet for my professor to approve. Where is a good place online to select ethical issues to write a topic and choose a topic?

Thank you,

https://www.google.com/search?source=hp&ei=-sT5W-3kLs3p_Qaw8rHwBA&q=ethical+issues&btnK=Google+Search&oq=ethical+issues&gs_l=psy-ab.3.1.0l10.3610.3610..4496...1.0..0.151.275.0j2......0....1j2..gws-wiz.....6..35i39.o1vQM5UA4hw

I followed your request for a list of ethical topics. That Google site has many different topics. Once you've chosen one, then you search for information about that specific topic.

I looked at the website that you gave to me, but it does not provide information to do research and to implement a topic for my research. Please help me? Thank you.

To complete this assignment, you will need to follow these steps:

1. Select a relevant and topical leadership issue from current news media that revolves around ethics and ethical decision making. Ensure that your topic is approved by your instructor before proceeding.

2. Once your topic is approved, research the situation and gather data to evaluate the dynamics of the situation. Take notes on the power bases used by the leader, the influence tactics employed, the leadership style exhibited, and the outcome or potential outcome of the situation.

3. Write an evaluation of the situation that addresses the following components:

a. Power bases used by the leader: Analyze the sources of power the leader relied on to exert influence in the situation. Consider if they used expert power, referent power, coercive power, reward power, or legitimate power.

b. Influence tactics used by the leader: Identify the tactics the leader employed to shape the behavior and decisions of others. This could include rational persuasion, inspirational appeals, consultation, collaboration, or even manipulation.

c. Leadership style of the leader: Assess the leader's overall leadership style. Is it autocratic, democratic, laissez-faire, transformational, or transactional? Consider how their style affects their ability to lead effectively.

d. Outcome or potential outcome of the situation: Reflect on the result or expected result of the leader's actions. Did their leadership approach contribute to a positive or negative outcome? Consider the long-term consequences of their decisions.

e. Evaluation of conscious capitalism: Finally, analyze whether the leader supports the values of conscious capitalism. Consider how well they align with the tenets of conscious capitalism, such as stakeholder orientation, higher purpose, conscious leadership, and conscious culture.

4. After evaluating the leader, imagine yourself as a practitioner of servant leadership and discuss how the situation would be different if you were in that leadership role. Address the four criteria mentioned above (power bases, influence tactics, leadership style, and outcome), incorporating the principles of conscious capitalism into your explanation. Explain how your personal values and style are influenced by the tenets of conscious capitalism.

5. In Part 2, develop a leadership philosophy statement. Review your self-assessment results from Topic 2 and reflect on what you have learned about effective leadership and conscious capitalism in the course. Consider your personal values, beliefs, past experiences, and expectations of self and others. Incorporate these elements into a distinctive statement (250-500 words) that clearly articulates how you view yourself as a leader and how others would perceive you as a leader.
