Use a metric ruler and a protractor to find 2 a (vector) - 2 b (vector). Then find the magnitude and amplitude of the resultant.

When I measured I got 2 for b and 4 for a. The answers I have to choose from are 8cm,41degrees, 9cm,38degrees,6cm,36degrees, and 4cm,31degrees.

Someone responded to this question but I did not understand the explanation.

To find 2a - 2b, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Draw a vector representing a. Use a metric ruler to measure the length of a, which you mentioned was 4 cm. Label this vector on your diagram.

Step 2: Draw a vector representing b. Use a metric ruler to measure the length of b, which you mentioned was 2 cm. Label this vector on your diagram.

Step 3: Multiply vector a by 2. Since 2a means multiplying a by 2, double the length of vector a on your diagram. Label this new vector as 2a.

Step 4: Multiply vector b by 2. Since 2b means multiplying b by 2, double the length of vector b on your diagram. Label this new vector as 2b.

Step 5: Draw a new vector by subtracting 2b from 2a. To do this, start from the tail of vector 2b and draw a line parallel to vector 2a but pointing in the opposite direction. The endpoint of this line should be the head of the new vector. Label this new vector as 2a - 2b.

Step 6: Measure the length of the resultant vector (2a - 2b) using a metric ruler. In your case, double-check your measurements as you measured vector a as 4 cm and vector b as 2 cm. Make sure to measure from the tail to the head of the resultant vector.

Once you have measured the length of the resultant vector, you can move on to finding the magnitude and amplitude of the resultant.

The magnitude of a vector is its length, so the magnitude of the resultant vector is the length you measured for 2a - 2b using the metric ruler.

The amplitude (also known as the angle of inclination or angle of elevation) of a vector can be found using a protractor. In this case, you need to measure the angle between the positive x-axis and the direction of the resultant vector. It is important to align the base of the protractor with the x-axis and measure the angle in a counterclockwise direction.
