Good evening,
I do need some help on the below to order the numbers from least to greatest.
Square root of 1/25; 1/4; and 0.2
My answer is: Square root of 1/25 is 1/5
0.25 or 1/4 comes first, then 1/5 or 0.2, and 0.2
Is this correct from least to greatest?
is 0.25 less than 0.2?
Yes that is what i put in my response
0.25, 0.2, 02.
Is my problem solving on all of this correct?
Is the square root of 1/25=1/5
Is 1/5=0.2?
what does the question say about order?
Good evening!
To order the numbers from least to greatest, you can follow these steps:
1. Simplify the expressions, if possible. Let's start with the square root of 1/25. The square root of 1 is always 1, and the square root of 25 is 5. Therefore, the square root of 1/25 simplifies to 1/5.
2. Compare the simplified expressions. Now, you have 1/4, 1/5, and 0.2.
- First, let's compare 1/4 and 1/5. To compare fractions with different denominators, you can find a common denominator and compare the numerators. The common denominator of 1/4 and 1/5 is 20.
Multiply the numerator and denominator of 1/4 by 5: (1/4) x (5/5) = 5/20.
Multiply the numerator and denominator of 1/5 by 4: (1/5) x (4/4) = 4/20.
Now, we can see that 1/4 is larger than 1/5 since its numerator is bigger. So, 1/4 comes before 1/5.
- Now, let's compare the remaining fraction, 1/5, and the decimal, 0.2.
To compare fractions and decimals, convert the decimal to a fraction. The decimal 0.2 can be written as 2/10, which simplifies to 1/5.
Since both 1/5 and 1/5 are equal, it doesn't matter which one comes first. However, by convention, we usually write whole numbers first before fractions or decimals. Therefore, 0.2 comes after 1/5 in the order.
So, the correct order from least to greatest is: 1/4, 1/5, 0.2.
I hope this explanation helps!
