The speed sound in air 330 m.s-1

Lightning flash is 1,5 km

1.calculate the time from the moment that you can see the lightning flash until you hear the thunder

Can I have calculations

Well, I will just assume C = infinite because 3*10^8 m/s is huge :)

So you see it when it happens for this purpose.
However it takes serious time for the sound to arrive.
1.5 *10^3 meters = 330 m/s * t
t = 1500/330 seconds

We primitive sea people use this to tell how far we are from a lighthouse that broadcasts a radio signal at the same time as their fog horn signal.

I use this the other way around. I see the flash and start counting. Every 5 seconds before I hear the thunder means the light is about another mile away

To calculate the time from the moment you see the lightning flash until you hear the thunder, you can use the fact that sound travels at a speed of approximately 330 m/s in air. Here's how you can calculate it:

1. Convert the distance of the lightning flash from kilometers to meters.
1.5 km = 1500 meters

2. Calculate the time it takes for the sound to travel from the location of the lightning to your position.
Time = Distance / Speed

Time = 1500 meters / 330 m/s
Time = 4.55 seconds (rounded to two decimal places)

Therefore, it would take approximately 4.55 seconds from the moment you see the lightning flash until you hear the thunder.
