How is this irony? :

Donkey: Are we there yet?
Shrek: No
Donkey: Are we there yet?
Fiona: Not yet
Donkey: Ok, Are we there yet?
Fiona: No.
Donkey: Are we there yet?
Shrek: NO
Donkey: Are we there yet?
Shrek: YES
Donkey: Really?
Shrek: NO!

This is irony because the other person was using the opposite of the word “Yes” to be sarcastic. The “Yes” Really meant a “No”.

Note: If this is for a test or quiz then you could use this as an idea. Please do not use this as your answer. That’s called copyrighting and you might get in trouble for it. Though, I HIGHLY suggest you don’t use this for tests. I recommend to use it on assessments, practices, or studies. Thank you for acknowledging and reading this.

Haha!😂Yup,this is irony because suddenly Shrek got sick of Donkey's question and replied in sarcasm

This situation can be considered ironic because it involves a contradiction between what is expected and what actually happens. Irony often involves a discrepancy or incongruity between what is said and what is meant or between what is expected and what actually occurs.

In this dialogue, Donkey repeatedly asks if they are at their destination, to which both Shrek and Fiona respond negatively. However, when Shrek finally says "yes" in response to Donkey's question, it turns out to be a false answer. This creates a humorous and ironic situation where the expected answer is reversed, leading to a humorous outcome.

To understand this irony, you can analyze the dialogue and the responses that increase the expectation that they have reached their destination. Each time Donkey asks the question, the repetition creates a sense of anticipation that they might finally be there. However, when Shrek eventually says "yes," it is revealed to be a joke, contrasting with the previous negative responses and creating irony. So, the irony lies in the unexpected reversal of the expected outcome.
