''Son'' Is Told In

A. Chronological Order.
B. Fragments That Are Set In Different Time Periods.
C.Segments, Each Told By A Different Character.
D. Reverse Chronological Order, From Present To Past.
This Is From The Story Son By John Updike Its Either B Or C

It's not both. Are the segments, vignettes, told in first person? If so, C is your answer. If not, B is.

BTW, I'm the "anonymous" who responded above.

Thanks Reed I Chose C Am I Correct Or Should I Change My Answer

Let me rephrase. Are the vignettes told as if the character, the father, is telling his own story, or are the stories/vignettes told by a third-person observer? (This time, I do have the story right here, in the first book it was published in, Problems.

No. C is not correct. Read the story carefully. The vignettes from the past are told in third person. The author's own memories of his own parents are told in first person. They are not all told from the point of view of the character being described. They are about different time periods, different generations of the same family.

The Story Is Told By The Father

Your Right So It Would Make More Sense B Am I Correct I Did Read The The Story A Few Times But Still Unsure

Yes, I agree with B. "And letters survive from that yet prior son..." is in the third person, is it not?

So, not all of the story is told from the character's own point of view. The narrator tells of his own experiences as a father and a son from his own point of view, but the ancestors' vignettes are also told from his own point of view as an observer, not the first-person accounts of the prior fathers and sons.

Yes Your Correct I Am Going To Chose B Thank You Reed I Appreciate All Your Help
