How do i work out the mass of a flywheel. I am given the density as 7800kg/m3, a 760mm diameter and a 180mm width.

Please help

it's a flat cylinder

v = π r^2 h

m = v * density

To calculate the mass of a flywheel, you'll need to use the formulas for volume and density. Here's how you can proceed:

1. Start by determining the volume of the flywheel. Since the flywheel is cylindrical in shape, we can use the formula for the volume of a cylinder:

Volume = π * (radius^2) * height

Given that the diameter is 760 mm, the radius (r) can be calculated as half the diameter: r = 760 mm / 2 = 380 mm = 0.38 m.
The height (h) is given as 180 mm = 0.18 m.

Therefore, the volume of the flywheel is:
Volume = π * (0.38^2) * 0.18 = 0.247 m^3

2. Now that you have the volume, you can use the formula for density to calculate the mass of the flywheel:

Density = Mass / Volume

Rearranging the formula, we can solve for the mass:

Mass = Density * Volume

Given that the density is 7800 kg/m^3 and the volume is 0.247 m^3, the mass of the flywheel is:
Mass = 7800 kg/m^3 * 0.247 m^3 = 1923.6 kg

So, the mass of the flywheel is approximately 1923.6 kg.
