Yes I know this might be easy for some of you, but I have this problem on my homework and I'm confused.

Why is water wet?

Simple: It isn't.

When a surface is covered with water molecules, the surface is wet. However, water itself is not wet. Wetness is a characteristic of a surface in contact with water.

Although, if you're looking for an explanation of why water is capable of making materials wet, that's a different answer.

The properties of surface tension (adhesive and cohesive forces of water) allow it to make objects wet.
