I just have a stupid question..

Does the phoenix in Fahrenheit 451 symbolize any type of freedom? Because I searched online, but it mostly says rebirth. But could it?

What is the novel about? It's about repression. People are manipulated into not thinking for themselves, books and the ideas they contain are banned. The authorities set fire to them. There is no freedom to think, to explore ideas, to have a free mind. From the ashes of the books may rise a phoenix. Freedom is not dead, but does live in the minds of those who have memorized the books. The phoenix may yet rise in rebirth/freedom of independent thought and the ideas and thoughts of the ages.
