1. Write the correct formulas for the following:

A. A compound composed of melt X which has a +2 charge and nonment Y which has a -3 charge (write it as “XY” including the correct subscripts as necessary.)

My answer: by adding or taking away a charge drone one of the two???

First off, let me suggest some spelling changes. I think you meant to write the following: A compound composed of METAL X which has a +2 charge and NONMETAL Y which hs a -3 charge.......

You need to learn to do these yourself. Sarah told you haw to do it yesterday. The compound X?Y? must have a zero charge. The easy way to do this is to put the charge from Y as a subscript for X and put the charge for X as the subscript for Y. In doing this IGNORE the signs. Here is how you check to see if you've done it right. Multiply the subscript for X by its + charge and multiply the subscript for Y by its negative charge. Add the + number to the - number. If the sum is zero you've done it right. Ill be happy to check your answer.
