Select the sentence that is NOT possible for conjugating the passé composé form of the verb in parentheses. Don’t forget about all the possible past participle agreements in gender and number.

Vous _________ tard hier soir. (rentrer)

êtes rentrées
êtes rentrés
êtes rentrése
êtes rentré

It's been a while since I've worked on French, so I asked google. All of these mean 'have returned' on google. But, I was thinking, since any word with 'e' at the end means it's feminine, would D be correct?

I urge you to go back and study French. After you've done that, I'll send your post to our French expert.

I looked back at the very beginning of my lesson, and found that pretty much all past words end with an e, and at least half end with 're'.

I'll send this to SraJMcGin, our French expert.

The one that does NOT work is the third one. The feminine singular is = êtes rentrée.
