How does Jiskha work?

and is being a jiskha tutor an actual job?

Thanks!

You're welcome.

How do you become a Tutor?

Anyone can post homework questions on Jiskha. It's best to post no more than three or four in any post. Also, we can help students better if they give us an idea what they are thinking about the question. While we may show a student how to solve a problem, we do not generally give answers. We here to help students learn.

Jiskha tutors are mostly retired teachers and professors. We are volunteers and are not paid.

And welcome! :-)

How to write solutions to the problems in the jiskha.

Jiskha is an online educational platform where students can ask academic questions and receive answers from volunteer tutors. Here's how Jiskha works:

1. Ask a Question: Students can submit their questions on various subjects such as math, science, English, and social studies. It's important to provide all relevant information and be clear in your question.

2. Volunteer Tutors: Once a question is posted, volunteer tutors from around the world can access it and provide an answer. These tutors are not employees of Jiskha; they are regular people who have knowledge and expertise in different subjects.

3. Answering Questions: Tutors review the questions and provide detailed answers, explanations, and guidance to help students understand the concepts.

4. Quality Control: Jiskha has a team of moderators who ensure that the answers provided by tutors are accurate and appropriate. They may review, edit, or remove answers if necessary.

5. Additional Features: Jiskha also offers additional features like a search function to find previously answered questions, reference materials, and educational resources.

Being a Jiskha tutor is not an actual full-time job, but rather a volunteer opportunity. People volunteer their time to help students by answering their questions. Some tutors may have teaching experience or expertise in specific subjects, which allows them to provide helpful and accurate answers. However, being a Jiskha tutor does not provide a salary or benefits. It is an informal way for people with knowledge in various subjects to share their expertise and assist students who are seeking help.
