Yes, C is the correct answer. My high school chemistry teacher used to joke, though, that an "x" is an unknown quantity in math, and a spurt is a drip of water. He had a point. For every "expert" there may be another, equally expert person with a different idea. No expert should be taken as having the definitive "truth".
