The Second Great Awakening differed from the First Great Awakening in the following ways EXCEPT

a. It was the product of both trained and untrained ministers.
b. Its message spawned many reform movements.
c. Its message was hidden from slave populations.
d. It was more widespread, penetrating deeper into the south and west.

I think the answer is a.

Nope. Did you read anything, or are you just guessing?

Well, I read my textbook and did some outside research before posting my question on Jiskha. I know that the message was hidden from the First Great Awakening, and in the Second Great Awakening, it was masked from the slaves as well because they were told that it was supported in the Bible.

Never mind! I think I misread the question! I now think that the answer is B because the Second Great Awakening was more widespread and it did spawn more reform movements, but they were both similar because they were hidden from slave populations. Is this correct? :)

No, only in part. Read the article I posted for you. Slaves were not excluded at all. It did spawn some reform movements, yes. There's more.

I read the article you posted, and I am still confused. For the first part, I eliminated A and C and looked for clues that pointed to B and D. However, I can not find any evidence that shows that both the First Great Awakening and Second Great Awakening encouraged reform movements because the questions ask for ways that both awakenings were similar. Therefore, I believe that the answer is D because the article states that " Revival camp meetings swept through Kentucky, Tennessee and many of the southern states." Is this correct?

I agree with D. Reform movements also were spawned by both "awakenings", but the Second one reached people the First one did not. The first was rather local in New England. Important, but not as widespread.

Thank you so much for your patience and help!!!!!!
