16 ÷ 4 • 2 =

My answer is 2 but my calculator says 8. (Yes I am aloud to use a calculator) IDK what it is, because if I use order of operations shouldn't it equal 2?

When you have a division and a multiplication problem, you calculate from left to right.

16/4 = 4

4 * 2 = 8

OK, thank you for your help!

You are welcome.

To solve this arithmetic expression, we need to follow the order of operations, also known as PEMDAS (Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division from left to right, and Addition and Subtraction from left to right).

In your expression, 16 ÷ 4 • 2, there are two operations: division (÷) and multiplication (•). According to the order of operations, we perform these operations from left to right.

Let's break down the steps:

Step 1: Division (÷)
16 ÷ 4 = 4

Step 2: Multiplication (•)
4 • 2 = 8

So, the correct answer is 8, according to the order of operations.

It seems like you might have made a mistake by performing the multiplication before the division. Remember that in the order of operations, we go from left to right, performing division and multiplication as they appear.
