How would today's business environment's be affected if we decided to get rid of all computer and information systems? Do you think it would have a serious affect on the global economy considering that mankind has been involved in various businesses much before the dawn of the information age?

We'd adapt -- as we always have adapted. Businesses would pay more for the labor -- and more people would be employed.

But never in history have we abandoned a new technology -- so your question is basically flawed.

Well since I did not invent the question I was just bacially trying to see what others thought of the question. I agree we will never abandonded something that is easy and we do not have to get up our chairs to look for information that is at the tip of our hands.

We'd adapt...but not without a big blow. Especially on a global level.

I can't imagine what global business would be like without computers any more. So much has changed. Figuring out how to do inventory, etc. may be one thing that would only be part of the issues. Imagine the difficulties in communication that would happen that have become necessary for a competitive market.

If we were to get rid of all computer and information systems in today's business environment, it would certainly have a serious effect on the global economy. The reliance on computers and information systems is deeply ingrained in almost every aspect of business operations.

First, let's consider the impact on productivity. Computers and information systems have greatly improved efficiency and accuracy in various tasks, such as data management, analysis, and communication. Without these systems, businesses would have to revert back to manual methods, which are typically slower and more prone to errors. This would result in decreased productivity and potentially higher costs for businesses.

Furthermore, businesses heavily rely on computer networks and the internet for global communication, collaboration, and transactions. Removing these systems would disrupt supply chains, impede international trade, and hinder the ability to connect and engage with customers globally. The modern globalized economy heavily depends on the speed and efficiency of digital communication, and removing computers and information systems would severely impede these processes.

Moreover, consider the vast amount of data that businesses accumulate and analyze to make informed decisions. Without computer systems, businesses would struggle to store, process, and analyze this data, leading to a significant loss in valuable insights and strategic decision-making capabilities.

In conclusion, while businesses have been functioning for centuries without computers and information systems, the global economy has evolved to heavily rely on these technologies. Removing them would undoubtedly cause significant disruption, decrease productivity, and hinder communication and decision-making abilities in the business world.
