How do I show model to multiply 0.16*0.5?

I did try by shading .16 over 0.5 but it giving me .10 answer. I need my answer 0.08.
Plz help me what I am doing wrong.

Cannot draw model on these posts.

.5 = 1/2

1/2 of .16 = 1/2 * .16 = .08

Thank you so much!!!

To show the multiplication of 0.16 and 0.5 visually, you can use a rectangular grid model. Here's how:

Step 1: Draw a rectangle to represent 0.16. Divide this rectangle into 100 equal squares (since 0.16 is equivalent to 16/100 or 16%).

Step 2: Shade 16 out of the 100 equal squares to represent 0.16.

Step 3: Draw another rectangle next to the first one to represent 0.5. Divide this rectangle into 10 equal squares (since 0.5 is equivalent to 5/10 or 50%).

Step 4: Shade 5 out of the 10 equal squares to represent 0.5.

Step 5: Now, find the overlapping area between the shaded squares in both rectangles. Count the shaded squares that appear in both rectangles.

If you follow these steps correctly, you will find that there are 8 (or 8/100) shaded squares in the overlapped area.

Hence, the answer to 0.16 * 0.5 is indeed 0.08, not 0.10.

If you obtained the answer of 0.10, it's possible that you made a mistake in shading or counting the squares. Double-check your work and make sure you are accurately representing the given decimal values in the model.
