x - 5

By this we can then make a statement of how x represents the denominator.

From here we will create an equation and simply solve for x...

(x - 5)/x = 2/3
(x - 5 + 1)/ x + 1 = 2/3
(x - 4)/(x + 1) = 2/3

[Multiply both sides to get rid of the denominator.]

x - 4 = 2/3(x+1)
3x - 12 = 2x + 2
x = 14

∴ Numerator = 14 - 5
