dependent or independent

taking a quarter out of a bag and then taking another quarter out of the bag without replacing the first quarter

It depends on

1. what the bag contains (all quarters, quarters and dimes, only one quarter, etc.)
2. whether the quarters are indistinguishable.

Assuming the bag contains a mix of coins of different denominations, and there are at least two quarters.

Say there are 10 coins of which 2 are quarters.

The first pick of a quarter would have a probability of 2/10.

Assuming the first pick was a quarter, then the probability of the second pick would be 1/9.
If the first pick was NOT a quarter, then the probability of the second pick would be 2/9.

What do you think about dependence (of the outcome of the second pick with respect to the first)?
