I need help. I have to do an essay for globalization and human rights.

I have 2 arguments:

1) it represents a challenge to cultural and local languages. So I'm going to be talking about Al-Jazeera and how the languages are slowly being disappeared. I'm also going to add residential schools since they were assimilated. This can tie in with language rights and cultural revilization.

2) Transnational Corporations and how many people are affected by the pollution. Also that Corporations such as Nike have third world countries people who make the products which are sold. Those that are in poverty and etc. Things like that.

3)now I'm stuck. I'm not sure what the third thing can be that I talk about? Any ideas?

Grade 10 level social though.

What is your essay about? What is your thesis statement?

In 1), what is "it"?

My essay needs to be about impacts of globalization on human rights.

My thesis statement is: there are negative impacts of globalization on human rights to a great extent.

And for it, I mean globalization

How about the mistreatment of labor? American workers lose their jobs as companies shift the jobs overseas. And the overseas workers are sometimes underpaid, overworked, and endure unsafe and unsavory conditions.

Isn't that connected with my second argument though? Or if what u told me can be my 3rd argument how can I change the 2nd so they aren't as similar?

How about how jobs and, sometimes, whole industries disappear in industrialized nations because wages are lower in third-world countries. Look at textiles and shoes in the United States. Very little fabric or finished clothing is made in the USA now. The same is true with shoes. There is disruption when workers in the industrialized nations are displaced and have to find some other way to earn a living, if they can.

I got hung up on corporations causing pollution. Maybe pollution and using natural resources could be one argument and the human angle could be a third argument (or vice versa).

Another good example is General Electric home appliances. GE had a HUGE industrial complex in Louisville, KY where refrigerators, kitchen stoves, etc., were made. Most are now made in China. I have a GE fridge - made in China. What do those workers in Kentucky now do for a living?

Oh okay thank you Ms. Sue and Reed

So to clarify:

My 2nd argument can be: Transnational Corporations and how it causes pollution which can be harmful for people that work in factories. And industrialization as well and manufacturing of products.

My 3rd argumenet:
The mistreatment of labor. How Nike and other textiles have people that are in poverty or slaves doing laborious work. And outsource happens as well. With americanization

You're welcome, Sarah.

For your third argument on globalization and human rights, I suggest exploring the impact of economic inequality. Here's how you can develop this argument:

1) Define economic inequality: Begin by explaining what economic inequality means and how it relates to globalization. You can mention how globalization has led to both economic benefits and disparities, with some regions and individuals benefiting greatly while others are left behind.

2) Discuss the widening income gap: Highlight how globalization has perpetuated income inequality, with a concentration of wealth in the hands of a few while many struggle to meet basic needs. Provide examples of countries or communities that have faced this issue, such as the growing wealth disparity in the United States or the exploitation of workers in certain industries in developing countries.

3) Explore the impact on human rights: Explain how economic inequality affects various human rights, such as the right to education, healthcare, and fair wages. Discuss how wealth disparities can prevent access to quality education or healthcare, perpetuate social divisions, and limit opportunities for social mobility.

4) Offer possible solutions: Conclude your argument by suggesting potential ways to address economic inequality within the context of globalization. It could involve advocating for fair trade practices, promoting progressive taxation, supporting grassroots movements, or strengthening worker rights. Emphasize the importance of addressing economic disparities to ensure the protection of human rights for all individuals.

Remember to support your argument by referencing credible sources, such as scholarly articles or reports from reputable organizations. This will strengthen your essay and provide evidence for your claims. Good luck with your essay!
