Use the intersect command on a graphing utility to solve the following equation for the indicated value of b.

X^3-218x=b
b=2504

Can you please give me the exact steps of how to do it on calculator?

i typed the below equation into the "y=..." page of my TI-84 Plus.

y=... X^3-218x-2504

Then i go on "2nd--calc", press "intersect" command AND keep on getting error on the screen!?

To use the intersect command on a graphing calculator to solve the given equation, you need to follow these steps:

1. Enter the equation into the "y=" page of your TI-84 Plus calculator: y = X^3 - 218X - 2504

2. Press the "GRAPH" button to graph the equation on the calculator screen.

3. Press the "2nd" key followed by the "CALC" (or "TRACE") key to access the calculator's math menu.

4. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor near one of the points where the graph intersects the x-axis. Make sure you are close to the root of the equation.

5. Press the "ENTER" key to select the "INTERSECT" option from the math menu.

6. The calculator will prompt you to select the other curve. Move the cursor to the second curve (the graph of the equation) and press the "ENTER" key again.

7. The calculator will display the coordinates of the intersecting point, which represent an approximate solution to the equation.

If you are getting an error message on the screen when trying to use the intersect command, it could be due to several reasons such as not having the equation properly entered, not having a good window setting to display the graph, or not having any intersection points.

Double-check the equation you entered and ensure it matches the desired equation. Verify that the window settings are appropriate, so the graph is clearly visible. If there are no intersection points, it means that the equation does not have real solutions for the given value of b.
