You've been asked to assits with a grade-4 class who will be selling small boxes of wildflower seed mix for Mother's Day. You've been given a stack of construction paper 15cm by 20cm. You must instruct the calss to cut identical squares from each corner, then fold the sides to create a lidless box in which the seeds can be placed. If the area of the base of the box must be 104cm^2.

a) determine the length of side of the square to be removed.
b) and there was a donation of 7 280 cm^3 of wildflower seed mix, how many boxes can the calss expect to fill?

length of squares to be cut out ---- x

base ----- 15-2x by 20-2x

(15-2x)(20-2x) = 104

solve for x and you have the size of the cut-out
The rest is easy
