I've been working on this problem for HOURS and I still can't figure it out. It's due by tomorrow. And I'm so frustrated.

DX I know I have to convert ounces into gallons, but I can't find a path at all.

DX

Here is the question:

I need to mix the gas with oil for my weed whacker. The instructions said to put 3 ounces of oil in one-half gallon of gas. I have a 5 gallon gas can. How much oil do I add?

and we are doing this:

x top unit
_______ = _____________
bottom unit bottom unit

bottom and top must be same units.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME BEFORE TOMORROW MORNING?

i don't get your formula but if you have 3 oz of oil for 1/2 gallon of gas then you need 6 oz of oil for 1 gallon. you need 5 gallons so you multiply 6*5. you need 30 oz of oil.

Oh I never thought of that! I feel quite stupid now, haha. thank you so much!

ALSO.
I'm also trying to find a path of conversion to ounces to gallons.

So I have

Start: ounces
Goal: gallons

Path:
16 oz= 1 lb
1 oz = 480 grains

But none of that leads to gallons, which makes me want to rip out my hair : [[

160 oz per gallon

im pretty sure anyway

16 oz. = 1 pint

2 pints = 1 quart
1 gallon = 4 quarts

Thank you so much!!! You helped me so much [hugshugs] thank you

Of course, I can help you with the problem! To convert ounces to gallons, we need to establish a conversion factor between the two units.

There are 128 fluid ounces in a gallon, so we can use this conversion factor to solve the problem.

Given that the ratio of oil to gas is 3 ounces of oil to 0.5 gallons of gas, we can set up a proportion:

3 ounces / 0.5 gallons = x ounces / 5 gallons

To solve for x, we can cross multiply:

3 ounces * 5 gallons = 0.5 gallons * x ounces

15 ounces = 0.5x

To isolate x, divide both sides by 0.5:

15 ounces / 0.5 = (0.5x) / 0.5

30 = x

So, you need to add 30 ounces of oil to your 5-gallon gas can.

I hope this explanation helps you understand the process of converting ounces to gallons and how to set up and solve proportions. If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask!
