the story have a lot of symbolism in it and it is crucial to understand them to understand the theme of the story. the most obvious of them is the symbolism of white and black knight. they represent the good and bad respectively. the cheerful motley represents real life as it is not just black and white. the mirror represents appearance. the forest of life represents the world.

I think "white knight" is a story because it has all those necessary elements that a story needs to have like setting,character,conflict,and also the theme.
The story is an allegory. It means it can be read on two levels- one literal, the other symbolic. Symbolically, it proves that we should not judge a person by his appearance but rather by what he thinks and does. As the white knight goes in search of a black knight to slay him but at last he turns out to do the things of a black knight. It symbolizes that being good doesn't mean destroying bad, it means working hard to cultivate kindness and goodness in every situation.
This story explores the fallacy of good and evil , by showing a character who believes his innocence and lack of life experience automatically makes him good. He realizes that survival and the pursuit of glory causes him to act immorally, to the point where he becomes the thing he set out to destroy. Upon realizing this, he changes his ways, and instead of seeking to destroy evil as a way of making the world better, he decides to act good . Whereas his first adventure had him recognized as a black knight by his peers, his new life has him recognized as a good white knight. Being good does not mean destroying bad, it means working hard to cultivate kindness and goodness wherever one goes.
