A Muslim organization wants to build a small mosque in the vicinity of the September 11 Memorial in New York City. There is public outrage from many citizens who do not want a Muslim religious site there. You must write a letter to the mayor of NYC explaining why you think this mosque should or should not be built at that location.

I have to write about this.
I'm not english speaker... can you please give me ideas?

#1 -- on the "should" side:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; ........ " This is part of the First Amendment to the US Constitution. It means that people are free to practice their own religion -- or practice no religion -- according to their beliefs. This includes building churches, temples, mosques, etc.

#2 -- on the "should not" side:
Even though the law is on their side regarding where they want to build the mosque, do they really want to make themselves a big target like that for other people's anger?

The first point is legal -- yes, they have a legal right to build it there.

The second point is more subtle -- should they build one in that particular place, given all the history and emotions connected to that part of New York City?

Now ... choose which side you want to support, and write about it.
