What would be a good report for a second grader to do, on a person, someone famous, sports person, etc. the kids have to dress the part and give a short report. My 8 year old wants to do David Beckham, is that okay for should we do someone REALLY famous?

David Beckham is REALLY famous over here! :D :D

That's cute, he should!

I think David Beckham would be a great subject for a second-grade report. You want him to be really interested in what he's studying. He'll learn about researching and writing as well from a sports hero as a "really" famous person.

Here's a web site about Beckham.

In addition to dressing up as a soccer player , he could bring a ball to class, and even do a demonstration on how to head a ball as part of his report. I think it is a great idea....

That sounds like a fantastic idea! In order to help your 8-year-old with their report on David Beckham, here are a few steps they can follow:

1. Research: Encourage your child to find information about David Beckham. They can use books, websites, or even watch videos about his life and career. The website you provided, http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/player/161454_BECKHAM_David.html, is a good place to start.

2. Take notes: Encourage your child to take notes while researching. This will help them organize their thoughts and remember important details. They can write down Beckham's birthdate, his achievements, his teams, and any interesting facts they come across.

3. Structure: Help your child create a structure for their report. They can start with an introduction, giving a brief overview of who David Beckham is and why he is famous. Then, they can move on to specific sections such as his early life, his career, his impact on soccer, and any other interesting aspects they want to include.

4. Dress the part: As part of the report, your child can dress up as David Beckham. This could be as simple as wearing a jersey with his name on the back or adding soccer accessories like a ball or shin guards. This will make the presentation more engaging for the audience.

5. Practice: Encourage your child to practice their report before presenting it to their class. They can read it aloud, time themselves, and make any necessary adjustments. This will help them feel more confident and prepared on the day of the presentation.

By following these steps, your child will not only learn about David Beckham but also develop important research and presentation skills. Good luck to your 8-year-old on their report!
