The Mayflower Compact was the first agreement for self-government to be created and enforced in America. On September 16, 1620 the Mayflower, a British ship, with 102 passengers, who called themselves Pilgrims, aboard sailed from Plymouth, England. They were bound for the New World.

However, if you paraphrase this response, you will not.

When the Pilgrims left England, they obtained permission from the King of England to settle on land farther to the south near the mouth of the Hudson River (in present-day New York). Because they chose to remain where they landed in New England, they needed a new permission (called a patent) to settle there. On November 11, 1620, needing to maintain order and establish a civil society while they waited for this new patent, the adult male passengers signed the Mayflower Compact.

Uuuh I would use boss hoomans answer as a guide line.

But anyway here are some guided notes from a word doc.
The Pilgrims were a group of English settlers who left Europe in search of religious freedom in the Americas. They established the plymouth Colony in 1620.
The Puritans were a religious minority group who migrated to the New World seeking to create a model religious community. The Puritans believed that the Anglican Church needed to be purified of the influences of Catholicism.
The Puritans got permission from the king to travel to the New World to start a colony for England, setting sail aboard the Mayflower on September 6, 1620. They managed to fit 102 total passengers on the Mayflower, in addition there were between 25 and 30 crewmen onboard the ship. The ocean voyage was not easy. Men, women, and children all lived together in a very small space. Many became very sick and died. After 65 days at sea, they finally landed, at Plymouth.

When the Pilgrims arrived in New England, they decided they needed to make an agreement on how issues would be settled, and the colony would be run. They signed a document that is today called the mayflower Compact. The compact declared that the colonists were loyal to the King of England, that they were Christians who served God, that they would make fair and just laws, and that they would each work for the good of the colony. The Mayflower Compact was signed by 41 of the pilgrim men (the women were not allowed to sign). The men also voted John carbor to be the first governor of the colony.

Do with this information as you will.
