1. Use the given information to complete the table below

Miles driven (x) Charge (y)
2. Use the slope formula to find the slope

3. Use a point and the slope to find the equation either in slope-intercept form or point slope equation

4. Plug 172 into your equation for x and calculate the value of y. The value of y is the charge.

Steps for Method 2:

1. Create two (x, y) points from the given information.

2. Find the charge per mile by finding the slope. Use the slope formula.

2. Add the charge for driving 1 mile 72 times to the cost for driving 100 miles. This will give the cost for driving 172 miles. Or, subtract the charge for driving 1 mile 52 times from the charge for driving 224 miles.
Ive gotten 34.40 as my answer i did
(72.80-48.00)/(224-100) Ive gotten 0.2 then multiplied 172 and gotten 34.40 and keep getting it wrong or its probably because i don't understand the problem in general please help me

you don't show any of the data, but it's very likely that the line doesn't go through the origin (0,0)

there is probably some base rental charge (represented by the intercept)
