Please help me find the slope of the curve for these problems. I don't know how to solve it.

1. Y = x^3 at P(-1,-1)

2. Y= x^4/2 at P (-1, 1/2)

3. Y = 8x^4 - 7x^2 + 5x +6 at P (-1,2)

hmmm. algebra? Lets do it with calculus, assuming you are taking that

Take the derivative dy/dx, which is slope
3. Y=8x^4-7x^2+5x+6
dy/dx=slope=32x^3-14x+5 now put in the point x=-1, and you have the slope. http://mathinsight.org/derivative_power_function
