why are elections necessary for a good governance?

elections prevent people from holding power for long preiods of time*********

elected official have a reason to serve the people

elections reward officals for work experiences

elected officials can be fired at any time

@ms sue

Right.

I respectfully disagree. Voters can and do re-elect office-holders. Some serve for many years. If the elected officials are to serve the people, they must be answerable to the people. If they do not serve in the best interests of the governed, the governed can "fire" them in an election.

im so confused now what is the correct answer

reed plz help

What does your text say? Both Reed and I may be right.

ms sue you were not right im beginging to think your giving up on helping people it was B

I don't like any of the answers. Elections are necessary to insure that the elected "representatives" are accountable to the majority of the election unit. Along with this, it is necessary for the election unit be compromised of a valid cross-section of voters, allowed to secretly vote, without any restrictions or penalties on their choices.

Now the "best answer".
a could be good if it were written "elections prevent people from holding power for long periods, lengths of their own choosing" But it does not say that.
answer b: true, as if the people's interest is not respected, that should show up in a regularly scheduled election.
answer d: Fire at any time? That is not allowed in most elected positions, some yes, do have "recall", but not all.
I would go with answer b, however, none of them are very good.

ok butnim still failing my classes

Failing all your classes?

1. Are you in regular school, with books and teachers and desks and chairs and all that? If so, you need to be in regular (face-to-face) contact with your teachers so they know you are struggling and can help you.

or

2. Are you taking classes online? If so, do you have texts (whether real books or online books)? If not, why not? Do you have the names and contact information of teachers you can get help from? If so, use them. If not, why not?

Either way, you need to figure out why you're failing your classes. Are you having trouble reading the texts (in whatever form)? Are you having trouble reading and understanding the questions and answers?

Please think about these things so you can figure out what's going so wrong for you.

Excellent response, Writeacher. I hope that Fluttershy follows your advice.
