In 1965, Congress adopted the Voting Rights Act. Describe this act. In our description, explain what led Congress to pass the act, and describe at least two of the act's effects.

The Voting Rights Act abolished the discrimination involved in voting. The act abolished mandatory literacy tests and other efforts to prevent black people from voting. An effect of this act was a tremendous difference in voters. In 1968, blacks were sent as part of its delegation to the National Democratic Convention.

What rights and responsibilities do citizens of South Carolina have? Describe at least two rights and two responsibilities.

One big right that we have living in South Carolina is religious freedom. Another right we have in this state is the right to vote. These rights mean that we allowed these things no matter what. People cannot force a religion on to a person ro not allow another to vote. Along with these rights, we also have some responsibilities in South Carolina. One of these is paying these is paying our taxes. We absolutely must pay taxes on the items we purchase. Another responsibility for a South Carolinian is serving on a jury. Every on in awhile, a citizen must serve on a jury for a case to help prove a person guilty or not guilty.

The Voting Rights Act attempted to abolish abolish discrimination in voting. The act abolished mandatory literacy tests and other requirements intended to prevent black people from voting. An effect of this act was a tremendous increase in number of minority voters. In 1968, blacks were part of the South Carolina delegation to the National Democratic Convention.

Thank you Damon, but why would I mention anything about minority voters?

Ignore that last comment, but could you please help me with one more that I cannot find any information on?

Post it as a separate question.

I posted it Damon.
