Hello guys.

I am just wondering if tan^2 A (tan squared A) = sin^2 A /cos^2A

And 2tan A = 2sin A / 2cos A

This has been bothering me when I have to simplify trig.

Thanks in advance.

first one is true

tan A = sinA/cosA
square both sides:
tan^2 A = sin^2 A/cos^2 A

watch the second one,
wouldn't the 2's on the right side cancel for you in your equation??

correct way:

since tanA = sinA/cosA
so
2(tanA) = 2(sinA/cosA) = 2sinA/cosA
