Essay 1
after reading this novel, I've concluded that the theme of the passage is "family"
So at the beginning of the story, Moon Shadow was living with his mother figure, unknowing of his father aside from the stories his mother shared about her time with him. Financial nature of the small town they lived in called for many men to immigrate to America in order to make money for their families. This becomes even more difficult when the man Moon Shadow hasn't seen for longer than a year requests him to come to America.

The story Dragonwings by Laurence Yep was quite honestly an amazing novel. This story had impacted me by enlightening me on history of different cultural finances. I would most definitely recommend this novel to a friend so they could enjoy the writing style and literature differences from other books.
the main theme is family
the book opens with moon shadow living with his mother without knowing his father but only stories his mom has told him. financial nature of the country has made many men go to america to make money for their families back home. it is a difficult position that becomes harder for moon shadows mom when moon shadows father arranges for him to come to america. his mom is the only one person left strong enough to work on the farm.
Summer is longer than that and when you posted, there were only like 2, 3 weeks left of school. Now there's about a week left. 5 weeks from then would leave us with less than a month of "summer" or "summer break" so wym it's over in 5 weeks...? AND WHO TF LIKED THAT XD
Sbeve i agree and yes it is hard to find one but at the same time its not.
I can see many different themes in this novel.

1. Pick a theme (only one, not two or three!)
2. Write a list of when the elements of that theme appear in the story. Make sure you have elements from the beginning, the middle, and the end of the story, not necessarily in that order.
3. For each item in your list, put the page number(s) and name the character(s) and action(s) that prove it.
4. Start writing your paper, using each item on your list for each paragraph.
5. AFTER you have all that written (even in rough draft form), start drafting your introduction and conclusion.
