Use the function rule f(x)=x^2-5x+1. Find the output of f(-5).

What I did was I replaced -5 in for x...That's as far as I could go. I got confused.
Thank you
~Maddie

(-5)^2 -5(-5)+1= 25+25+1=51

Thanks Rayla :)

To find the output of the function f(x) = x^2 - 5x + 1 when x = -5, you need to substitute -5 into the function and evaluate it. Here's how you can do that:

Step 1: Replace x with -5 in the function.
f(-5) = (-5)^2 - 5(-5) + 1

Step 2: Simplify the expression inside the parentheses.
f(-5) = 25 + 25 + 1

Step 3: Perform the addition and subtraction operations.
f(-5) = 51

So, the output of the function f(-5) is 51.
