I posted a question like this earlier but I forgot to add something.

If I were to write an essay about the experiences of Jewish individuals or communities living under Nazi occupation during World War II, what could be some things I could add to it?

I have to write about something that has to deal with the Frank family but I am just having trouble starting my essay.

Before you worry about the introductory paragraph, you need to have the body of the paper in place, at least in rough draft form, AND you need to have a thesis statement drafted.

What is your outline or plan for the body of your paper?

What is your thesis statement?

Have you read the links that Reed and Writeacher posted for you?

What is your thesis statement?
What are your supporting arguments?

Write the body of the paper BEFORE you write the introduction.

And do read about Corrie Ten Boom. What she did was quite similar to Miep's assistance to the Frank family. The Frank family was not the only one helped.

Yes I have read the links but I cannot write about that, my essay has to deal with the Frank family.

I asked my teacher if I could do a presentation about Corrie Ten Boom but she said that has nothing to do with the Frank family.

Follow the advice Writeacher and Ms. Sue have given you. Do not write the introduction first.

And do follow your teacher's advice! She is the one who will grade and evaluate your work, not us!

Okay, could you help me start off the body of my essay? I am just confused about what I really need to write about, my teacher says this, create a research presentation about the experiences of Jewish individuals or communities living under Nazi occupation during World War II. She also says it has to deal with The Diary of Anne Frank

Did you read through that link I gave you about thesis statements? You need to have a good statement about what you intend to PROVE by the end of your paper.

Suggestion:
As readers learn in Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl, these Jewish families ...
(You finish it. What do you want to prove about what Jewish families went through if/when they went into hiding?)

Okay. The Diary of Ann Frank deals with one Jewish family. Your assignment is to research what Jewish individuals or communities living under Nazi occupation went through, NOT specifically about the Frank family. Use the "Diary" as a jumping-off point and read about the experiences of Jews in general, Corrie Ten Boom, etc., to expand the story to include other families, individuals, and communities. That seems to be your assignment.

Once you have done the research, begin to write about it and draw some conclusions. Only then can you write a thesis statement and an introduction. You can't, for example, introduce the guest speaker at your club meeting if you don't know who he or she is! You can't introduce an essay until you know what's in it.
