What are some local groups of India?
Ethnic? community? governmental? charitable? religious? social? athletic?
I meant to ask like are there any tensions that exist between the government of India and local groups within the country? I couldn't find some on Google.
Are there any signs of devolution in the conflicts if there is any?
India has a federal government and was formed through the Constitution of India. There are three branches of government just like the United States, which is the judicial, legislative, and executive branches. The executive branch is led by the President and is the Head of State. One difference in the executive compared to the United States is that India also has a Prime Minister. The President selects a Prime Minister he thinks will be able to successfully lead. The President also appoints the members of the Council of Ministers. They stay in power during the President’s term. The Legislative Branch includes the lower house called Lok Sabha and the upper called Rajya Sabha. The President works with this house to make, change, and enforce laws in India. The Judicial Branch is led by India’s Supreme Court and it includes 21 High Courts and numerous criminal and family courts. The primary laws that govern India are written in the legislation of the Parliament. India’s system applies to both the federal and state governments. It was influenced through British Occupation.
India is facing conflict over land, but the government says it is convenient to deal with fragmentation of land holdings. A bill on land acquisition caused chaos in India where people say it will hurt intense farmers. People criticized the way the government was acquiring land. A non-governmental group Narmada Bachao Andolan became a part of the resistance to a controversial dam project against forcible land acquisition. A turning point came when a tax free economic zone to attract foreign investments came and violent resistant to the governments plans that were there to set up a chemical hub. India’s political order has been critical to ethnic relations. With its diversity they have posed many challenges. The Indian state has relied on three main instruments to cope with these challenges: A political order based on constitutionalism and secularism, a power sharing arrangements based on group rights and the devolution of authority to lower levels of government, and third is the use of force when the first two have failed. Powers based on devolution have proved to be the most successful.
