  1. Double the first one to get:
    6a - 2b = 18
    Now add the second equation,
    2a + 2b = 14
    and you get
    8a = 32
    which requires that
    a = 4
    Use either of the first two equations to get b.
    8 + 2b = 14
    Take it from there.
