Draw a line with 3 distinct pints on it. Label each with a different letter. How many different rays can you name using only the three given points?

a)8
b)6
c)4*
d)2

I'm guessing 4 but idk if it's two... can someone please explain?

O_O IM SO CONFUSED :(

i forgot to say it here XDD XD anyways pretty sure its right XD your welcome

P.S add karisa_yoooo on SNAPCHAT its meh

well, just list them. If the points are A,B,C left-to-right, then you have 6 ways to pair them up:

AB
BA
AC
CA
BC
CB

But the ray going right from A passes through both B and C, so
AB and AC are the same ray.

Similarly, CB and CA are the same ray.

BA and BC point in opposite directions.

So, your guess is correct.

The answer is 4. Steve got it right.

um thank u? lolzzzz ill see if its right -_- O_0

It’s 4

To determine how many different rays can be named using three given points on a line, we need to understand what a ray is.

A ray is a line that starts at a specific point and extends infinitely in one direction. In other words, a ray has one endpoint and continues indefinitely in the opposite direction.

To visualize this, let's consider the three given points A, B, and C on a line. Let's assume that the line starts on the left and ends on the right, with point A as the leftmost point and point C as the rightmost point.

If we use point A as the common endpoint and extend the line infinitely in the direction of point B, we create one ray, which we can call ray AB.

Similarly, if we use point B as the common endpoint and extend the line infinitely in the direction of point A, we create another ray, which we can call ray BA.

Likewise, if we use point B as the common endpoint and extend the line infinitely in the direction of point C, we create one more ray, which we can call ray BC.

Finally, if we use point C as the common endpoint and extend the line infinitely in the direction of point B, we create the last ray, which we can call ray CB.

So, by using the given points A, B, and C, we can name four different rays: AB, BA, BC, and CB. Therefore, the correct option is (c) 4*.

I've debated between them and its 2! if u used the points from end to end it would make a line so 2 is correct!

the answer is only two so UR WELCOME!!!!
