what is the diffrence between a democrat and a republican?


Historically, Democrats have been liberal, favor government programs that help ordinary people, support organized labor, and tend to live in cities. Republicans are more conservative, favor government programs that help business, and tend to live in suburbs and rural areas.

These sites have more information. The first is a message board format, but seems to be fairly unbiased. The other two are encyclopedia sites explaining the differences in more detail.
