We have to put it in y=mx+b format. So far i have gotten y=-1/2 but i still need the +b part and I'm not sure how to get it.
the slope you need the change in y divided by the change in x.
-2 - 0 divided by 3 - (-1)
-2/4 = -1/2 so I agree with you.
y = -1/2 x + b
you can choose either point and put in the x and y and solve for b.
0 = -1/2(-1) + b
0 = 1/2 + b
-1/2 = b This is odd, but it can happen
y = -1/2 x -1/2
You can check this by replacing x with 3 and to see if you get y = -2.
