1. It shall flash through doing ages,

2.It shall light the distant years;
3.And eyes now dim with sorrow
4. Shall be brighter through their tears

5. It shall flush the mountain ranges,
6. And the valleys shall grow bright;
7. It shall battle the hills in radiance,
8. And crown their brows with light

9. It shall flood with golden splendor
10. All the hunts of caroline
11. And the sun-kissed brow of labor
12. With lustre new shall shine

13. It shall glide the gloomy prison
14. Darkened by the nations crime
15. Where the dumb and patient millions
16. Wait better-coming time

17. By the light that glide their prison
18. They shall see its mouldering key
19. And the bolts and bars shall vibrate
20. With the triumphs of the free

21. Though the morning seemed to linger
22. O'er the hill-tops far away
23.Now the shadows bear the promise
24. Of the quickly coming day

25. Soon the mists and murky shadows
26. Shall be frightened with crimson light,
27. And glorious dawn of freedom
28. Break refulgent on the sight

ok here is part of my answer i need help on this part of the question Then explain how poets use these elements to contribute to tone in a poem. support your answer with evidence from "president Lincoln's Declaration of Emancipation, January 1, 1863?

•part answer 6. Imagery is the literary term used for language and description that appeal to our five senses. An example of imagery is: I could hear the popping and crackling as mom dropped the bacon into the frying pan, and soon the salty, greasy smell wafted toward me. Connotation is an idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning. An example of connotation is Home suggests family, comfort and security. Denotation the literal or primary meaning of a word, in contrast to the feelings or ideas that the word suggests. An example of Denotation is is the actual definition of the word "love" listed in a dictionary, instead of all of the feelings associated with the word love.

Keep in mind that no one will do your work for you, but if you state what you don't understand, there's a good chance someone can give you an explanation that will allow you to do your own work.

i don't get how to use the connotations and denotations i am confuse on the whole question because of the connotations and denotations i don't get these words i read the definition.

Here's a way to remember the difference between denotation (literal meaning) and connotation (figurative meaning) of words:

You might start out by identifying what "It" is in this whole poem.

Also, use this website to look up meanings and examples of different literary devices:

For example, scroll down until you see Metaphor in the left column. Read, read, read.

If I'm here, yes. If not, there'll surely be another English tutor who can. =)

You have the right idea, but the examples in your paragraph need to come from the poem, not from anywhere else.
