f(x) = 4-x^2 for x<1
f(x) = 2x+1 for x > 1
(you don't say what happens at x = 1 )
first slope = -2x, second slope is a constant 2
a) (-1,3), since x<1, slope = -2(-1) = 2
b) (2,5), since x > 1, slope = 2
