I'm doing a four question assignment but I'm in doubt with one question.

Question #1: Why does the one-child policy most likely affect only Han Chinese?

a) Members of other ethnic groups have different religious beliefs
b) The Han live mostly in the densely populated east
c) Only the Han agreed that the policy was necessary.
d) Other ethnic groups need a higher birth rate to survive.

I think the answer is "a" because according to what I have studied the one-child policy only applies to Han Chinese people. Families of other ethnic groups are allowed to have more than one child.

I don't know if I'm right.

Thanks

Thanks Ms. Sue, I just read the article and found the correct answer.

P.S I just turned in the assesment and I got 4/4. 🙂

Religious beliefs didn't have anything to do with this policy.

To find the best answer to this question, let's analyze each option:

a) Members of other ethnic groups have different religious beliefs: This option may not be accurate because the question is about the one-child policy and its impact on Han Chinese, not religious beliefs.

b) The Han live mostly in the densely populated east: This option is a possibility because the one-child policy was implemented to control China's population growth, particularly in heavily populated areas like the east.

c) Only the Han agreed that the policy was necessary: This option may not be true because the one-child policy was a government-imposed policy, and it is unlikely that only the Han agreed with it.

d) Other ethnic groups need a higher birth rate to survive: This option is a possibility as it implies that other ethnic groups may have different population growth requirements or concerns.

Based on the analysis above, option b) "The Han live mostly in the densely populated east" seems to be the most suitable answer. The one-child policy was targeted at controlling population growth in highly populated regions, and the Han Chinese constitute a significant portion of the population in those areas. However, it's important to note that this answer is not definitive without further research or confirmation from the sources you're using for your assignment.
