do I subtract 3x2 – 2x + 1 - 2x2 + 7x + 5 like this or 2x2 + 7x + 5 - 3x2 – 2x + 1 like this?

2. First simplify! 3*2 - 2x + 1 = -2x + 7 and 2*2 + 7x + 5 = 7x + 9

NOW, you have the equation (7x + 9) - (7 - 2x) because the first is subtracted FROM the second in the original question. to solve, DISTRIBUTE YOUR NEGATIVE SIGN! It will become 7x + 9 - 7 + 2x because a negative times a negative makes a positive. Then, combine like terms. So, 7x + 2x becomes 9x
and 9 -7 becomes 2. This gives you the final answer, 9x + 2

3. I think you meant:

When 3x^2 – 2x + 1 is subtracted from 2x^2 + 7x + 5, the result will be what?

so 2x^2 + 7x + 5 - (3x^2 - 2x + 1)
= 2x^2 + 7x + 5 - 3x^2 + 2x - 1
= -x^2 + 9x + 4
