“Lob’s Girl” and “Jeremiah’s Song” contain flashbacks. In a paragraph, explain what this plot technique adds to the stories. Support your answer with one detail from each story. Use the reading selections to help you answer the question.

I am sorry if this is late but, here are my answers for the open book L.A. unit test:

1. The flashback in "Lob's Girl" was when Mrs. and Mr. Pengelly were talking about how Lob died by the same truck that hit Sande and how he was buried at sea. There are many flashbacks in "Jeremiah's Song", but one of the flashbacks were: "When he used to just hang around with the other boys and play ball or short at birds he would laugh a lot". The flashbacks show the cause and effects of the past and how it affected the present. They also help to tell more about the characters' past and the characters themselves.

2. In "The Tail", Tasha looses her brother, Junior, when she was in the playing with her friends. There was a good side and a bad side of the conflict, the good of the conflict was that Tasha found to love her brother more after he got lost. The bad of the conflict was that Tasha could have lost her brother forever and get in big trouble from her mother. During the time, Tasha was playing with her friends when Junior wanders off. After Tasha realizes that Junior is gone, she is afraid that she will lose for brother forever and her mother will not be very happy. Tasha decides to go and look for him. In the end, Tasha doesn't know how much she loves her brother until she looses him. As she said in the story, "You never miss a tail until you almost loose it."

The last paragraph for the test must depend on what YOU read. State the book you read for your Independent Reading selection and the author, state how it effected you as a reader, and if you would recommend the book to a friend. After that, explain why or why not.

I hope this helps ;)

OMG GUYS THE FLASH BACK IN JEREMIAH STORY IS THUS

Before she went off to college she used to put cocoa butter on her arms and face and it would smell real nice. When she come back from college she put something else on, but that smelled nice too.

The flash back for Lobs Girl is " because her grandmother had a beautiful picture of a queen in a diamond tiara and a high collar of pearls. It hung by Granny Pearce's kitchen sink and was as familiar as the doormat. When Sandy was born, everyone agreed that she was the living spit of the picture" just copy and paste!

This is really confusing. I am working on the test right now and when I am done, I will give you guys MY answer. And possibly the answers for the closed book test on the same lesson IF you are a Connexus student. The closed book test I think has 16 questions, I think. And the closed book has 3 type out questions.

Creeper, oh man

So we back in the mine, got our pick axe swinging from side to side
Side, side to side
This task a grueling one, hope to find some diamonds tonight, night, night
Diamonds tonight

Oh no it's you again

Eyes, eyes, eyes
'Cause baby tonight, the creeper's trying to steal all our stuff again
'Cause baby tonight, you grab your pick, shovel and bolt again
And run, run until it's done, done, until the sun comes up in the morn'
'Cause baby tonight, the creeper's trying to steal all our stuff again
Just when you think you're safe, overhear some hissing from right behind
Right, right behind
That's a nice life you have, shame it's gotta end at this time, time, time
Time, time, time, time
Blows up, then your health bar drops, you could use a 1-up, get inside don't be tardy
So now you're stuck in there, half a heart is left but don't die, die, die
Die, die, die, die
'Cause baby tonight, the creeper's trying to steal all your stuff again
'Cause baby tonight, you grab your pick, shovel and bolt again
And run, run until it's done, done, until the sun comes up in the morn'
'Cause baby tonight, the creeper's trying to steal all your stuff again
Creepers, you're mine
Dig up diamonds, and craft those diamonds and make some armor
Get it baby, go and forge that like you so, MLG pro
The sword's made of diamonds, so come at me bro

Do you know what a flashback is, and why it's an effective literary device? Read this carefully, then you should be able to identify the flashbacks in the pieces you have been assigned:
