How do I convert 3000 mg/day into g/hour?

I'm wondering if this is correct:

First I converted the 3000 mg/hour into 250 mg/hour by dividing by 12.

Now I had them both into hour.

Then I divided by 1000 to change mg into grams.

So my answer would be .25g/hour???

1 m = 1000 mg

24 hrs = 1 day , (why did you divide by 12 ? )

3000 mg/day
= 3 g/24 hrs
= (1/8) g/hour or .125 g/hr

You would have had the right answer had you divided by 24

yes, thank you --- not sure why I divided by 12 - obviously it should have been 24 because there are 24 hours in a day!!

I always find these conversions easier if I just carry the units along, canceling the unwanted units along the way.

Things are unchanged if you multiply by 1, right? But there are many ways to write 1.

Since 1 day = 24 hours,
1day/24hr = 24hr/1day = 1

So, your conversion goes like this:

3000mg/day * 1g/1000mg * 1day/24hr = 1/8 g/hr

The unwanted day and mg units get canceled out, just like the numeric factors.

To convert 3000 mg/day to g/hour, we need to perform a two-step conversion. First, we convert milligrams to grams, and then we convert days to hours.

Step 1: Convert milligrams (mg) to grams (g).
There are 1000 milligrams (mg) in 1 gram (g). Therefore, we divide the given value of 3000 mg by 1000 to convert it to grams:
3000 mg / 1000 = 3 grams.

Step 2: Convert days to hours.
There are 24 hours in a day. To convert from days to hours, we multiply the given value by 24:
1 day * 24 = 24 hours.

Now, we have the value of 3 grams per 24 hours. To convert this to grams per hour, we divide the grams by the hours:
3 grams / 24 hours = 0.125 grams/hour.

So, 3000 mg/day is equal to 0.125 g/hour.
