Think about the work you completed in your reading character role. Determine the ideas that would be most worthy to share in a literary discussion about Johnny Tremain. Provide an explanation for your choices. How did the role you selected and the work you completed help you to understand more about the text. Support your response with at least two pieces of evidence from the novel.

My problem is, I'm not really sure what to write. I've been at this for an hour. I understand the question just fine, but I'm one of those people that needs an example before I can get an idea. So, if you could just write an example for me, that would be great. Thank you!

For anyone who has problems with this, let me explain:

A reading role basically is ways to read the book in order to gain a deeper understanding of the novel.

Here are all the different types of reading roles:

Discussion Director
Word Watcher
Summarizer
Luminary
Connector.

You choose one of the reading roles and just tell about how it helped you understand the book better.

And just choose a text from the book and say how your role helped you.

if i had a literary discussion about "Johnny Tremain" i would discuss the lack of humility Johnny had, also dove and Dusty;s jealous'. In this novel Johnny is hard-working and good-natured, so he is well-liked by almost everyone and is a leader in the household. Dove, an older apprentice, resents him for this and the two boys often fight. At the beginning of the novel, the pious Mr. Lapham urges Johnny to read a Bible verse about the dangers of pride. Later in the novel, Johnny is in a hurry to perfect the handle before it is due, Dove and Dusty Miller, the younger apprentice, are supposed to help Johnny. However, they are annoyed by his pompous attitude so they give him a cracked crucible to put the melted silver in. The trick was supposed to be a silly practical joke to humiliate Johnny a little, but he spills melted silver all over himself and badly burns his hand. Mrs. Lapham hires Gran’ Hopper, a midwife, to heal Johnny, but she fails to keep his hand flat so it curls in on itself and becomes useless. Johnny can never be a silversmith now. I personally feel that this would have never happened if dove and dusty weren't so jealous, also if johnny just humbled himself down as a person, This novel also humbled me down as person too.

Take each instruction one at a time.

Determine the ideas that would be most worthy to share in a literary discussion about Johnny Tremain.

Why did you choose these ideas?

How did the role you selected and the work you completed help you to understand more about the text?

Support your response with at least two pieces of evidence from the novel.
